The following information is about Sweeps.
Sweeps Defined
Long templates, usually made of wood, metal or plastic, used for laying in different curvatures or radii to a full-sized drawing or clay model. Standard sweeps are numbered 1 through 100. Each sweep number represents a 1/8-inch rise in a 60-inch arc. (Example: a #8 sweep has an 8/8 or one-inch rise.) So-called "favorite sweeps" are also designated A through U. All sweeps are based on a chordal length of five feet.
