The following information is about "Dash" (In Body Engineering).

"Dash" (In Body Engineering) Defined

In some car companies, the "dash line" is an all-important measuring marker from which body-length dimensions are taken. During design, the actual "dash" (firewall) is extensively altered to accommodate intrusion by the transmission, ducting, controls, etc., so it rarely coincides with the theoretical "dash" and should never by confused with "Instrument panel," q.v.
